The AquaCheck Probe

We offer a range of soil moisture probes to suit a variety of needs. Our probes are manufactured by a skilled team based in Cape Town, South Africa. All our probes are designed to accurately measure the moisture and temperature of soil. Our soil moisture probes are compatible with a wide range of telemetry devices and irrigation management software solutions. Each probe includes a 40-month carry-in warranty.
Sub-Surface Probe with MODBUS, SDI-12 & RS-485 interface options

Application: annual crops, orchards, pastures, nurseries, greenhouses and turf (gholf, football, cricket and other)

The AquaCheck Sub-Surface probe is a capacitance-based soil moisture and soil temperature monitoring device offering up to 15 sensors per probe. The Sub-Surface probe requires an external logger or remote transmission unit and external power supply.

General Specifications:

  • A capacitance based continuous logging probe.
  • Probe lengths from 200mm to 1600mm (refer to the link below for the various options available).
  • Up to 15 soil moisture and soil temperature sensors depending on the probe configuration.
  • Shaft diameter: 32mm.
  • Compliancy: CE, FCC certified.
  • Communication Interface options:
  • SDI-12 (serial data interface, 1200bd)
  • MODBUS, 2400bd

Technical Specifications:

  • Supplied with a 6m 3-core 0,5mm thick cable.
  • Voltage input: 4-14V.
  • Power requirement: 10uA (0,01mA) during idle; 20mA for 2 seconds during measurement.
  • Sensor spacing: every 100mm or 200mm (refer to the link below for the various options available).
  • Sensor resolution: Approximately 13 bits.
  • Temperature sensor: 0 to 51 oC, steps of 0.2 Degrees.

Classic Probe with MODBUS, SDI-12 & RS-485 interface options

The AquaCheck Classic probe is a capacitance-based soil moisture and soil temperature monitoring device offering up to 15 sensors per probe. The Classic probe requires an external logger or remote transmission unit and external power supply.

Basic Wireless Continuous Logging Probe

Application: annual crops, orchards and nurseries

The AquaCheck Basic Wireless probe is a capacitance-based soil moisture and soil temperature monitoring device offering up to six sensors per probe. This version of the soil moisture probe is equipped with on-board memory and a battery pack. Data sampling can be set at intervals of 15, 30 or 60 minutes. Battery life of up to 12-18 months can be expected. The data can be uploaded using the AquaCheck wireless hand logger (Shuttle).

  • Up to six soil moisture and soil temperature sensors depending on the probe configuration.
  • Shaft diameter: 32mm
  • Data Storage Capacity on Basic II Wireless: 2047 logs (21 days on 15 min intervals or 42 days on 30 min intervals).
  • Compliancy: CE, FCC certified.
  • Communication Interface options:
  • Short range proprietary RF at 868/918 MHz – 10mW power output.
  • Communication with the AquaCheck wireless hand logger (Shuttle).
